Stock up on your favorite energy drinks and buy a new alarm clock, because we’re about to get some ‘wee hours of the morning’ soccer. The United States under-20 men’s national team is headed to South Korea for the World Cup in a couple of weeks and all of their group matches will be available on national television.
Much like the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which South Korea served as a co-host of, all matches will take place at very awkward times for viewers in the USA. FOX Sports 1 will televise all three of the Baby Yanks’ groups match beginning on May 22 against Ecuador (4:00 a.m. ET). The opener will be followed matches against Senegal (May 25, 7:00 a.m. ET) and Saudi Arabia (May 28, 5:00 a.m. ET).
Tab Ramos’ side is coming off winning the CONCACAF Championship for the first time and will have high expectations heading into this tournament. In 2015, the U-20’s made it all the way to the quarterfinals before losing to Serbia on penalties. Can this group outperform that finish? We’ll get to watch and find out, assuming you’re able to wake up.
