Watch Live: USA vs. Cuba, U-17 CONCACAF Championship

The obligatory victory lap.

Technically, the United States under-17 men’s national team hasn’t secured a berth to the U-17 World Cup yet. If my math is accurate, Cuba winning this final classification stage by five goals or more would send the U.S. home without a spot in the World Cup. However, when you consider that this Cuba team lost 7-1 against the same Honduras team that the U.S. completely dominated, the chances of that scenario happening seem slim.

Coming into this match with a perfect 4-0 record with 13 goals scored and just three conceded, a qualification spot looks all but certain. A draw would be good enough for the Baby Yanks to win their group, qualify for the World Cup, and advance to the final of this competition.

Josh Sargent continues his scoring rampage, netting five goals in just three starts so far. He and Ayo Akinola have been the heavy lifters when it comes to goals, while the third man in the team’s attacking trio, Andrew Carleton, has been the creator. This team has been extremely fun to watch and this match should be a celebration of clinching a World Cup spot more than anything else. It kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on YouTube, Twitter, and Univision Deportes.
