In March, the United States U-23s will travel to Guadalajara, Mexico to begin qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics, set to take place in July and August in Tokyo, Japan. With Olympic qualifiers comes the opportunity for U-23 MNT head coach Jason Kreis to bring in a strong team of players to get to the finals of the qualifying tournament in Guadalajara and earn one of CONCACAF’s 2 berths in this summer’s tournament.
Forming that team presents a lot of options. The USMNT over the past couple years has introduced many young players to the team, and the team’s average age reflects the number of players who are eligible for the Olympics. However, with that comes the question of which players would form the team and whether any of the Olympic-eligible players that have become a part of the main rotation on the USMNT would be sent to Mexico in March to help us in our quest to make the Olympic games.
So, this week’s Community Corner asks you: who would you call in for Olympic qualifying for the men? You can list a full roster or list some key players that you would call in. Either way, you know the drill...show your work and defend your stance!
