The United States U-23s have a preliminary group of players who are on the list to hopefully deliver a place in the Olympics. Yesterday, Concacaf released the preliminary rosters for the Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which takes place next month in Guadalajara, Mexico. As part of that, the U-23s released their list of 48 players who will be the available player pool for head coach Jason Kreis to choose from next month.

The group of players includes a wealth of talent that has seen time for the youth national teams as well as the USMNT. There are some bigger names on here that most likely may not be called in, but their availability gives Kreis several options when he decides to round out his roster.

Of note on this roster is Efrain Alvarez, who was also listed on Mexico’s preliminary Olympic qualifying roster. Ayo Akinola, the Toronto FC forward who has been a part of both the United States and Canada national teams lately, is dealing with health issues and was accordingly left off the roster for both teams.
