The United States are set for their final CONCACAF Women's Championship group stage match, and it comes with a couple wrinkles. Alex Morgan's ankle injury, which will keep her out for the rest of the tournament, means that Abby Wambach has taken her place as the central forward in the team's 4-3-3.
There were questions of whether Wambach would take the role or if Sydney Leroux would, but, at least for this match, Wambach gets the nod. Leroux is on the bench, as Christen Press and Tobin Heath flank her. Megan Rapinoe will be the central playmaker yet again, and will be under the microscope as the team continues their search for the best player in that role.
If the U.S. wins or ties this match, they will top Group A. That would likely set up a semifinal match-up against Mexico to clinch a spot in the Women's World Cup.
United States (4-3-3): Ashlyn Harris; Kelley O'Hara, Christie Rampone, Whitney Engen, Meghan Klingenberg; Carli Lloyd, Lauren Holiday Megan Rapinoe; Christen Press, Abby Wambach, Tobin Heath.
The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen live on Fox Sports 1.
