The United States will continue their Women's World Cup preparations today in Milton Keynes, England, where they are set to take on the Three Lionesses in a friendly. The The World Cup is just four months away and the Americans have a long ways to go, putting the pressure on them to make the most of every opportunity, starting in at Stadium mk.
The Americans' trip to England comes five days after they played France in a humbling match. Les Bleues put a beatdown on the U.S., out-playing them in every facet and exposing just how far the Americans are from being a real World Cup contender.
Jill Ellis went with an interesting team against France, putting Morgan Brian and Lauren Holiday in the middle, with Carli Lloyd out on the left. Then she asked Lori Chalupny to play left back, without a real winger in front of her and asking France to run at her. They did, and the Americans paid for it.
It's still unclear what personnel and shape and style Ellis wants her team to play. Maybe we'll get a better idea against England, or maybe they will continue to be a long ways off and trying to figure it out as the World Cup creeps ever closer.
