The United States won their opening 2015 Women's World Cup match, 3-1, to get things started on the right foot. But that was against Australia, a fine team, but hardly a powerhouse. Now the Americans are set for their biggest test of the group stage: fifth ranked Sweden.
Not only are the U.S. playing a very good team, but they are going up against their former manager Pia Sundhage. That she has never been afraid to speak her mind and has said a number of things, positive and negative, about the U.S. players just adds to the fun.
The U.S. currently lead Group D with three points. Sweden are level with Nigeria on one point and Australia are at the bottom with zero. If the Americans can beat Sweden, they'll clinch a spot in the knockout stages.
The match gets underway at 8 p.m. ET an will be aired live on FOX. Once again, J.P. Dellacamera, Cat Whitehill an Tony Dicicco will be on the call from Winnipeg and there will be a one-hour preview show on the network from the FOX studio in Vancouver. There will also be a one-hour post-match show.
