USWNT sell out Chattanooga friendly in less than a week

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

The United States will play in front of a sellout crowd in the second post-Women's World Cup match. The fans in Tennessee have completely sold out the 20,668 seat Finley Stadium in Chattanooga for the Americans' August 19 friendly against Costa Rica.

That the match is already sold out is truly remarkable. Tickets just went on sale last week and every single on has already been snapped up. It will be only the fourth sellout in the history of the 18-year-old stadium.

The U.S. are no doubt riding a World Cup high right now that has interest in the team at an all-time high, but it's one thing to tune into a match on your TV with a world championship on the line and to buy tickets to watch them play a friendly two months later against an overmatched opponent. This U.S. team has struck a chord with the American people, though.

The U.S. will play their first match after the World Cup on August 16 in Pittsburgh, also against Costa Rica.
