When the United States Soccer Federation filed legal documents in the equal pay lawsuit earlier this month that, among other arguments, alleged that women were inferior to men on the soccer field, it naturally led to a lot of backlash. The USWNT famously wore their jerseys inside out for their final SheBelieves Cup match against Japan, covering the U.S. Soccer crest and only revealing the 4 stars that signified the 4 Women’s World Cups that they have won.
After the match, Megan Rapinoe was asked about the protest and the equal pay lawsuit, and she provided this inspirational quote:
“To every girl out there, to every boy out there, who watches this team, who wants to be on this team or just wants to live their dream out, you are not lesser just because you’re a girl. You are not better just because you’re a boy.”
