Abby Dahlkemper has become the latest United States Women’s National Team player to head across the pond to England to play club soccer. Today, Manchester City announced that they had signed the world champion defender to a 2.5 year deal.

Dahlkemper heads to the FA Women’s Super League after 6 seasons in the NWSL. She began her career with the Western New York Flash, serving as a part of their 2016 NWSL championship team. After 2016, the team moved to Raleigh to become the North Carolina Courage, and Dahlkemper has been an integral part of that franchise, winning NWSL titles in 2018 and 2019 and capturing the NWSL Shield in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Dahlkemper will join her fellow USWNT teammates at Manchester City, Samantha Mewis and Rose Lavelle. She will wear the #13 shirt during her time in Manchester.

“I am so excited to join Manchester City. It’s a world class club full of incredible players and I can’t wait to get started,” Abby said in her first interview with Man City TV. “With all the talent in the FA WSL, I know that each game will present a new challenge and the opportunity to grow both as a player and as a person in England is going to be amazing, alongside having the chance to play Champions League football too.”
