Michael Orozco Fiscal will be on the United States team when they play Mexico on Tuesday after being called up by Jurgen Klinsmann to replace the injured Jermaine Jones. The move indicates that Klinsmann likely saw Maurice Edu as his emergency centerback, but will now use Orozco Fiscal in that role with Edu solely a midfielder with Jones no longer an option.
Orozco Fiscal's last call-up to the U.S. came last August, coincidentally (or not coincidentally) at the Azteca, where he scored the winning goal in the Americans' first ever win at the famed stadium. That was a friendly and neither the U.S. nor Mexico had their best teams in that match, but it was a historic win for the Americans and Orozco Fiscal made the difference.
Did Orozco Fiscal get the call-up because he was convenient and Klinsmann rates him? Did he get the call-up as a reminder that the U.S. can win at the Azteca? Does it matter?
WIth Orozco Fiscal on the roster, the U.S. now has 24 men in Mexico City. One of them will be left off of the gameday roster.
