Mexico vs. USA, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Lineups and Match Thread

Here. We. Go.

Miguel Tovar

It's the United States and Mexico at the Estadio Azteca. If you don't know what this means, what's on the line and the possibility that the stadium spontaneously combusts on account of hate overload then you haven't been paying attention.

Chepo de la Torre has picked a rather predictable lineup, with Giovani dos Santos likely playing underneath Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and Andres Guardado and Javier Aquino out wide. The only mild surprise is that the 20-year-old Diego Reyes is being tapped to replace the suspended Maza, but he's one of the best defenders in Liga MX so that's hardly a shock.

The U.S. has not made many changes to their team, with Matt Besler and Maurice Edu being the only difference from the XI that started in their win over Costa Rica on Friday. The two replace Clarence Goodson and Jermaine Jones, both of whom are unavailable due to injury.

100,000 fans are at the Azteca. Millions are in front of their TV screens. Let's get this one going.

Mexico: Ochoa; Meza, Reyes, Moreno, Torres Nilo; Zavala, Salcido; Aquino, Dos Santos, Guardado; Hernández.

United States: Guzan; Cameron, Gonzalez, Besler, Beasley; Bradley, Edu; Zusi, Dempsey (c), Gomez; Altidore
